Communities In Schools truly believes that if we can keep one child in school and learning, we will have gone a long way to making the world a better place. During our 26 years of working in San Antonio schools we have done just that — helping thousands of children stay in school and achieve in life; changing the negative cycle of school failure, unemployment, poverty, abuse, broken lives and families. Our Stay in School program supports student achievement by providing services and resources to help improve academics, behavior and attendance.
Each CIS-SA program site offers six primary program components. At the beginning of each school year, our case managers interview school staff and community members to determine the needs of each school. A campus plan is then developed which includes services to meet the individual needs of the students and their families, and the priorities of each school principal. This campus plan determines the extent to which services are provided under each of the components. Our six components and examples of services provided are below:
