Stay In School ProgramCommunities In Schools truly believes that if we can keep one child in school and learning, we will have gone a long way to making the world a better place. During our 22 years working with San Antonio schools, CIS has done just that — helping thousands of children stay in school and go on to build meaningful lives and futures for themselves; changing the negative cycle of school failure, unemployment, poverty, abuse, broken lives and families. The focus of the Stay In School program is to help students stay in school by providing services to help students improve in academics, behavior and attendance. Each CIS site offers six primary components. At the beginning of the school year, we interview school staff and community members to determine the needs of the school. We then develop a service plan for their site, which includes services to meet the individual needs of the students and their families. This is referred to as our Campus Plan. This Campus Plan determines the extent to which services are provided under each of the six components. A list of the six components and examples of services provided are under each component below.
