- Communities in Schools of San Antonio is the largest and only school-based dropout prevention program in Bexar County.
- Bexar County’s dropout rate is 38%.
- 95% of Bexar County Jail’s inmates are high school dropouts.
- It costs $35,000.00 a year to house an inmate and $881.00 to serve a CIS-SA student.
- CIS-SA has programs in 61 schools in 8 school districts throughout Bexar County. We also provide the counseling component at BCJJA, the expulsion school for all districts.

*So many of our children rely on the free breakfast and lunch the school’s serve and they go hungry over the weekend. This program provides healthy food to take home for the weekend.
