Shelly is the Training and Education Manager at Communities In Schools of San Antonio. She has worked for CIS-SA for over 13 years. She is a Licensed Master of Social Work that has worked in the field for over 20 years. She has training in Mindfulness, Trauma Informed Care, is a Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) and Youth Aware of Mental Health (YAM) Instructor and is a Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) Practitioner through the Karyn Purvis Institute of Child Development at Texas Christian University. She also holds a Master of Arts degree in Theatre.

Basics of Mindfulness

Do you want to reduce your stress and increase your resilience during the pandemic? Mindfulness can help. Research has shown that mindfulness can reduce the impact of stress on the brain and body. In this workshop you will learn the definition of mindfulness, how mindfulness benefits the brain and body and practice basic mindfulness strategies. This course is taught by a Licensed Master Social Worker. Ideal for the general public.
